Why do we use glass bottles?

You might be wondering why we've chosen to bottle our Santai coconut water in glass. In an industry often leaning towards plastic, we're committed to making choices that align with our values of sustainability and product integrity.

Initially, we explored various packaging options, including plastics. However, after extensive research and consultation with experts, it became clear that glass, despite some perceived challenges, was the superior choice for our unique product and environmental goals.

Our Commitment to Glass

  • Product Integrity and Purity: Glass is an inert material, meaning it doesn't leach chemicals into the product, ensuring the pure taste and quality of our organic coconut water. This is crucial for maintaining the delicate flavors and nutrients of our natural product.

  • Optimal Preservation: Glass provides an excellent barrier against oxygen and moisture, which is vital for preserving the freshness and extending the shelf life of our coconut water without the need for excessive processing or preservatives.

  • Infinitely Recyclable: Glass is 100% recyclable and can be recycled endlessly without loss in quality or purity. This allows us to contribute to a circular economy, significantly reducing waste and the demand for virgin materials. While glass can be heavier to transport, its recyclability benefits outweigh this for us, especially when considering the end-of-life impact of plastic.

  • Premium Presentation: We believe the clarity and feel of glass beautifully showcase the natural, pristine quality of our coconut water, offering a premium experience to our customers.

We understand that glass has a higher energy consumption in fabrication compared to some plastics, and its weight can increase carbon impact during transportation. However, we are continuously working to mitigate these impacts through sustainable manufacturing practices and optimized logistics. Our proprietary multi-step micro-filtration system, while typically associated with specific packaging, has been adapted to ensure compatibility with our glass bottles, maintaining our commitment to quality.

Regarding our labels, we are actively developing solutions for easily removable or water-soluble labels to further enhance the recyclability of our bottles. For our wholesale packaging, we are transitioning to cardboard cases made from recycled materials.

We are dedicated to continuous improvement and evaluating new materials and processes annually. Our decision to use glass bottles is a reflection of this ongoing dialogue and our commitment to transparency with our consumers as we strive for better.
